Request for Agenda Item - COVID-19 Re-Opening Plan Action Item

Dear President Villescaz and Members of the Board of Education, Thank you for requesting that COVID-19 be added as an agendized item at the next Board of Education Meeting. As a follow-up, I would like to further request that the item be listed as a "action item" related to school re-opening plans to ensure that the Board of Education has taken the appropriate public notice steps if a change to current reopening plans is appropriate based on state, local, or school board directives. Every Board Member stated their desire to re-open last night and failing to give yourself that option, if presented, would be a disservice to the students you represent. As a reminder, according to the San Juan Unified School District Governance Handbook, as approved by the Board of Trustees on December 15, 2020, "Board members may place any item on the agenda no later than six days prior to the scheduled meeting date;." This request has been submitted to you thirteen days in advance of the next board meeting date on Feb. 23.
